The End?
Life at Columbia is pretty crazy. I mean, that's what Exclusion Suite is all about, right? One of the crazy aspects that didn't really make it into the show (probably for good reason) is how much everyone has on their plate. We all have a million and one things to be doing between classes, extracurriculars, and... extra-extra-curriculars.
I only mention this as a way of explaining why the second episode of the series is also going to be its last. Things happened: midterms, spring break, homework, rained out shoots, plays, finals. Long story short, we ran out of time. But I believe I speak for the whole cast and crew when I say that we had a great time making this show, and we'll be happy if you have even half as much fun watching it (but, realistically, we hope you get way more enjoyment out of it than that).
To thank you all for tuning in we're going to be adding a bunch of downloads over the next couple of weeks. Starting today, you'll be able to download the scripts for both the second episode and the unproduced third episode. We're going to try to have the fourth and fifth up soon so that you can find out what happens to the Exclusion Suite gang. It's pretty crazy, even on paper.
So thanks again, and enjoy Episode 2.

Episode 2 - Behind the Scenes Photos

We just wrapped filming on the second episode of Exclusion Suite, "Two Truths and a Lie." Among the non-suite sets were Cafe 212 and ADP (who graciously let us film at their house for pretty much all of today). The lighting we had inside made everyone look like effing gorgeous movie stars, which was totally awesome.
Check out these production photos - click on the main image above. Hopefully they won't give away too much of what will happen; needless to say somehow our suitemates end up at 212 and ADP. Who knows why?
Oh, and the adorable little girl you're going "Awwwww" over is director Rob Brink's daughter, Izzy. She and her mother stopped by the set to say hi. Izzy's pretty much our unofficial mascot now. Does anyone else see a resemblance to Pearl the Landlord?
Thanks to ADP, 212, Famiglia (poor actors + free food = happy people), and all the extras for helping us run a fairly smooth shoot! Also thanks to the Fed for showing our Exclusion Suite trailer at their Fed Bash party last Saturday. The final trailer will be posted soon.
Episode one editing is still in progress, but we hope to have it out for your viewing pleasure in the next week or so!
Stay tuned for more updates!

Download Now: Exclusion Suite Theme Song
Sam Roberts, writer/producer/musician extraordinaire, just sent me the theme song for the show to share with you all. Download it, send it to a friend, make it your ringtone! Hopefully this'll give you a taste of what the show will be like.
And here's a note from Sam:
I actually wrote the Exclusion Suite theme over a year ago, long before Exclusion Suite was even an idea in my head. After working on the first episode of The Gates, I declared myself the show's music supervisor. I was actually somewhat qualified for the job since I'm a music student and have recorded my own music for many years, but I decided to compose something as a proof of concept. I spent a few hours watching a lot of prime time soap intros (OC, Dawson's Creek, even The Hills... ew) and then wrote and recorded a theme song in less than a day.
You can probably see where this is going; the Gates never had a full second episode and my Gates Theme spent a year gathering dust in my iTunes. So when Katie and I started throwing around ideas for a new Columbia soap, it was obvious which song we were going to use for our title sequence. As it stands, our first episode doesn't have a title sequence, but it does have the theme song. And I think you'll agree that it works a lot better than it would have in the Gates. Enjoy!

Episode 1 - Wrapped!
We just wrapped on the first episode of Exclusion Suite! It was an incredibly long day, but it was fun - mostly because by the end we'd gotten so delirious that we were reduced to making really terrible "that's what she said" jokes. Oh-oh!!
Everyone was great - our actors were gorgeous, our extras were filler-icious, Sam, Max, Rob, Katie, and everyone else on crew were so dedicated and wonderful - staying focused even when it was mad early, or when it was raining and cold, or when the pizza took FOREVER to get to our suite, or when we had suite residents needing access to their rooms, or when it was like, 11pm and we were all losing it.
Basically - it was hard work for a Saturday. Congrats to the entire crew for finishing before our deadline.
We can't wait for you to see the show. It'll be cut and finalized - and viewable here! - in just a few weeks. In the meantime, check out the production photos from today's shoot, and stay tuned for more behind-the-scenes media, including cast interviews, video footage from rehearsals, and more!
Episode 1 - Behind the Scenes Photos

Filming started on Exclusion Suite this morning at 7am - we were on location at 1020 by 6am, setting up shots and weary-eyed extras in order to finish shooting at the bar by noon.
We wrapped the bar scene around 11:50am and moved all of our stuff out - crew A filmed a scene in front of East Campus while crew B started setting up our suite for interior shots. It had started raining, and we were all pretty much frozen by the time our outdoor shots were finished.
The second half of filming is taking place as I write - we're doing the scenes where our exclusion suite suitemates first meet each other. Filming is scheduled to commence around 11pm tonight - we'll see how that goes!
Camera was on hand to capture all the off-camera moments - some of the bar photos turned out amazingly. Click the main image to see the flickr slideshow of the first half (more to come from later tonight - keep checking the set).
Stay tuned for more updates!
